The Easiest Daily Clean Routine

The Challenge

I love a clean house, but housework can be so mundane and take up a lot of time and energy.

But we have to do it.

It doesnā€™t feel good when it doesnā€™t get done.

It doesnā€™t necessarily feel great when we do it (especially if we have more important things to do).

Again, it can take a lot of time and energy.

It can pile up if we donā€™t stay on top of it.

It can be expensive if we get someone else to do it.

And itā€™s recurring.. every single day that you live in your home, itā€™s going to get dirty.

But keeping our space clean (and smell) fresh, allows us to live our best life!

And it can be used as a workout šŸ˜‰

Yes, itā€™s time to make it clear that cleaning is a workout!

The Solution

I found that the best and easiest way to keep our home clean is to have

  • a daily routine for the essentials

  • a short weekly routine that changes throughout the month

  • and an even shorter monthly routine for the one-off kind of things

Today, Iā€™m just talking about the daily.

Imagine waking up to a fresh, clean home every morning with an empty sink, clean dishes, an empty washer and dryer, a fresh kitchen, and everything else looking tidy and in place and.. it smells good!

Thatā€™s what this routine does on the daily yā€™all, and it takes about 10 minutes in the morning & 15-20 at night.

Plus, you can always delegate what you can.

Hereā€™s the short and easy daily routine that weā€™ve been doing that keeps everything running smoothly in our household.

First Things First

Donā€™t Clean All Day, Be Cleaner

The first lesson I had to learn was, donā€™t waste time cleaning all day long.

Thatā€™s a really good way to procrastinate on more important things.. especially if youā€™re a perfectionist type like me.

I clean 3 different times of the day.

But before you think that sounds excessive, hear me out.

The morning routine takes about 10 minutes or less and the evening routine can take about 15-20 depending if you have help or need to do floors and trash.

These take care of the daily essentials.

The 3rd time cleaning is spent if, and only if, I have time after I complete my main priorities of the day, and this is for my weekly cleaning routine.

The second part of this is to be cleaner throughout the day.

Meaning.. pick up after yourself & minimize your mess space (and teach those in your household to do the same as best as you can).

Just donā€™t spend too much time making things perfect.

Leave the dishes in the sink til the meal is over before you start loading the dishwasher.. that kind of thing.

You get it.

Create Your Routine

Routines are the most impactful way to make staying clean automatic.

An evening routine lets me rest knowing everything is clean and sets up my morning for a fresh start.

A morning routine starts the life cycle again in a way that creates a smoother flow for the rest of day.

When you have a habit system that includes a trigger and a dedicated amount of time and focus to clean, youā€™ll be amazed at how seamless and effortless it starts to feel.

Youā€™ll likely find ways to enjoy it more too, which brings me to my next point.

Give Cleaning a New Meaning

Iā€™m just another spiritual gal who loves good vibes.

So it blew my mind when I started viewing cleaning as a cleansing ritual šŸ¤Æ

Cleaning is cleansing.

When you perform your cleaning tasks, imagine it as an energy upgrade - a chance to wipe away old energy and infuse your things and space with appreciation and good intentions āœØ

And best of all..

Cleaning is a workout, yā€™all!

You can burn calories while you perform your tasks šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

Now for the juicy part.

The daily Morning and Evening Clean Routines.

ā˜€ļø Morning Clean Routine

  • Laundry - 1 load started, biggest pile; empty hampers every other day or when full

  • Dishes - put up the clean dishes in the dishwasher & fill it with new dirty dishes; have a clean sink

  • Bed - fluff and fix it

In whatever order works in your routine, these are the morning basics.

There is very little to do because itā€™s already clean from the night before.

Thatā€™s the beauty of it.

You wake up to a clean housešŸ¤©

When you do your morning clean routine..

  • Your biggest pile of clothes washing that will be ready to transfer to the dryer when you have 2 minutes.

  • You have an empty dishwasher and sink thatā€™s ready to take on more of your amazing cooking šŸ˜‰

  • And of course, you have a freshly made bed that makes you feel like youā€™ve got your life together.

šŸŒ™ Evening Clean Routine

  • Laundry - fold/hang & put up clothes from dryer

  • Dishes - put all dishes in washer, clean leftovers, & clean sink

  • Counters - wipe down kitchen & dining counters

  • Kitchen Floor - sweep/mop (if needed)

  • Kitchen Trash - take it out (if needed)

  • Tidy Up - pick up toys, fluff pillows, etc.

Again, in whatever order works best in your routine, these are the essentials to end your day leaving a clean slate for the morning.

Delegate what you can and use this as a quick evening workout before winding down.

When you do your evening clean routine..

  • You have an empty washer & dryer and all laundry is put away.

  • Your dishwasher is washing your dishes while you sleep and you have an empty sink to wake up to in the morning.

  • Your counters are cleared and wiped down from the day and you wake up to a clean canvas.

  • Your kitchen floor looks and feels clean and fresh.

  • Your house looks tidy and well taken care of.

This has helped me spend less time cleaning, save my energy, and feel fresh every time I go to bed and every time I wake up.
